I went to the Willife World Zoo with my family this weekend. After going through the photos I noticed that some of them struck me as having or invoking some emotion.

What do you think?

Your right your images are thought prevoking.

    The Rhino looks tired
    The Monkey looks annoyed
The chimp by the looks of his feet looks like he's been up to no good :D

I know animals should be in the Wild, but if humans would stop poaching, taking away, destroying and poluting their habitat, it wouldn't be up to Zoo's to keep many species alive.

I see the sad side too ..... Skippy

    Thanks Skippy-

My thought were how depressed these animals/ photos look. These are all rescued animals so they are in a better place but these really came across as sad photos to me.

Great shots! It's not difficult to imagine the stress of being in captivity these creatures experience. Even though they are "rescue" animals and well taken care of, not being in your natural environment and free "to be" has to take a toll and produce states of depression. You see it in their faces all the time. Zoos work hard to keep animals entertained, but there's only so much they can do.

Definitely thought provoking. The close-up of the hand is very emotional. Let's hope the zoo makes sure they are well cared for. Most zoos do a great job at this.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

These are very good. I, too, really like the last one with the paws holding the cage. The rhino shot is very nice, too.thumb.gif

    Thanks Saurora.

I agree they are cared for and the do what they can to keep the animals active. These caught me off guard since I didn't really see the emotion until I was editing- it kind of shocked me that they came off as so sad looking.

Anytime i see animal caged, i can't help myself but thing how tough it must be to live such "unnatural" life for them. Humans created the situation, these poor animals have no choise and you always, always will see it in their eyes. Excellent images, make me cry. :cry

Nice images, Aaron. I feel the same feelings that you do when I go to zoos. They're really kind of sad places. I like your other series from this zoo shoot as well.
