We may have lost but boy did I have fun sat very close to the pitch - I'm usually sat in the stands so to be so close was great fun and a challenge. I'm not used to touch judges, ball boys, TV cameras and even the players being in the way.

Anyway, here's some photos from the day...

I'd be interested in some feedback - please be gentle(!) - it's been a tough week for us Saints supporters and it's going to get tougher still at the weekend.

i like them. i think you did well to capture the action :D (i used to play in a team for several years). one thing i'd suggest is if you have photoshop cs2 to use "Shadow/Highlights" to bring out detail in the blacks. if you have lightroom or the like you can always use "fill light"

    I like 'em a lot.

I have a bad monitor, so I'll reserve comments on the exposures.

I like how the action fills the frame. I like the moments you've chosen. I like the intensity on the faces. I find the third one, the kicker, to be the weakest - it doesn't really tell much of a story. The other three do.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I was using a Canon 20D with a 75-300mm USM IS Canon lens. I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 and I did try and manage the shadows with the Shadows/ Highlights tool. So I need to work a little harder there!

Wxwax, interesting about the third shot - you're right it doesn't tell a story. I liked it because it's a photo of one of the world's greatest fly halves and having him stood square in front of me isn't likely to happen very often!:D
