I'm thinking of going back to using a Canon 1.4x TC and tubes because it's less glass and I'll only lose 1 stop with the 1.4TC (verses 2 stops with the 2xTC). It will make the "lens" a little longer, but I should get better image quality.

    Thanks Skippy! I was afraid, with all the wind (a thunderstorm was rolling in), that the above life size shots wouldn't look too good so I went down to the bare lens. The price of not letting myself use the cropping tool...
