The activity level at the rookery is picking up.

Everyone is doing their nest building

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Hi Janis,

Glad you enjoyed them. The lenses that I used were the 80-400 VR for #s 2-4, and the 70-200 VR for the rest except for #6 where I used the 500mm F/4.

Nice series showing nesting behaviors. For some reason, though, the subjects in your last shot aren't as handsome as the subjects in your other shots. :D

The two woodstork shots are amazing to me. They are all great but I just love the storks. It is so nice to see an endangered species nesting. I love the lighting on the first woodstork but I found myself wanting to see all of his mate. I can't wait to get back to Florida. Only 12 more years and I could be a permanent resident...

The picture with the photographers reminds me of opening day of duck season around here. At least it is safer with cameras instead of shotguns...

Thanks, I'm lucky to live close to wood stork central. I've even had some in my backyard.

Its a blast to be able to follow the mating, nesting, and raising of the chicks. Its a shame the camera can't capture the noise level which is incredible.

Thanks very much, they are prettye asy to capture once you realize that the birds use the same flight path to and from the nest as they continually bring nesting material intot eh nest.

Thanks Arnica, the trick to getting good shots at the rookery is patience and finding the shot with a good background and in the right light.
