This is my third shoot with little Michael...he was so incredibly happy today, showing off a set of amazing peepers.

I'm obviously enamored with the contrasty colors, high key bws and vignettes lately. C&C welcome, as always.

1. used a reflector above his head to block the sun, produced some pretty even skin tones in harsh light!

2.

3. another hi-key silhouette type shot...too noisy?
148100525-L.jpg

4.convinced the Mom to try a photo shoot bath...don't knock it til you've tried it!
148102116-L.jpg

5. I can't decide if this expression is adorable or "deer in headlights."

Thanks for looking! :D

#3 is really good and it's not too noisy for my taste.

#5 is priceless and classic. stunning! you really nailed the lighting and the b&w conversion. clap.gif

    great pics lynne-

for whatever reason, the bw pics seem to work better than the color-

although, I like all of them-

    binghott's right, #5 is a classic-

Adorable shots Lynne! I agree that the B&W's are awesome. I'm kinda liking #4 myself, but they're all good. The skin tones in #1 look a little off...looks a little gray from the neck down on my monitor. The 2nd one looks good. Nice job overall, and he sure is cute!

These are very well done. I love your B&W conversion. #5 is cute but I'm with you, is this cute or deer-in-the-headlights. I'm not sure either.

These are great shots! I love the contrasty colors and vignettes too. I'm sure the mom is really happy with these. Good job! (Isn't it a fun shoot when the baby is sooooooo adorable?)
    C and C always welcome.

    Oh yea....
I love #4..what a great moment....that is real life....it's giving the baby a bath but a masterful capture...one that I personally would cherish in my photo album...beautiful.

I agree with George that the conversions make better for this set. The color somehow doesn't seem to capture the mood...beats me why rolleyes1.gif

Yeah, these are really nicely done! I also like #5 the best, I think. Mom's arm in #3 is pretty buff... maybe not the idea of the shot, but definitely conveys the strength necessary to hold someone up.

    Wow! Just beautiful!

I agree about #1 - the colors are a bit too blown for me and it seems to have thrown off the color in his skin. I think toning it back would be good, but B&W would be even better....

#2 - Precious! Love all the color in this!

#3 - My favorite. Not bothered at ALL by the grain. I actually like it!

    #4 - Wonderful!

#5 - I'm leaning towards deer in the headlights, but I have shots of my girls like that that I LOVE so it's a personal preference - probably directly in proportion to how in love you are with the subject! rolleyes1.gif

    Awesome shoot!

thanks everyone for the feedback! I put up ones that I had "questions" about, and knew you guys would help.

Saurora-totally agree w/ you on the skintone now that you pointed it out. My HueyPro is en route this week...I'm looking forward to calibrating (finally!) and posting the results. Also, DUH, the reflector was silver side to the face, now I think the gold side would have helped?

I don't know if its the subject or the colors themselves that present better in BW? I agree w/ you guys, I just can't put my finger on it.

It's funny, #5 seems to be split down the middle, kind of like in my head...luckily there are some better ones from that portion.

and #4, I wondered if it was too snapshott-ish, but it seems to be a fave, too.

Thanks guys for helping me further hone in on my 'style', I think I'm finally happy w/ my BWs; color, apparently not so much....headscratch.gif

I think I'll wait til the Huey to make any further adjustments or judgments.

    My 2 cents
    1. I think that it would have gotten raves above and beyond had you posted seperate from 3.4.&5. It is vibrant, rich, and excellent facial expression.

    2. I don't particularly like what is going on behind the chair with the wall/colors, but the baby was certainly hamming it up.

3, 4, 5......well it has all been said except that to me they look timeless......and could have been from another era or an era yet to come......I like that !!!

    1. again....I wish that he were wearing a more traditional button front shirt in a solid color so that the BW treatment you gave the others could render it timeless as well. Don't take that to mean I don't like it, only that I would have liked to seen this as you treated the others.

    Excellent lighting on all.

#2, 3 and 4 are lovely. Good looking baby.

I actually like #1 too probably because green is my favorite color. :/

    nice
Love the b&w's, the deer in headlights and bath photos are excellent. The color on the first one looks a little off. Also, on my work monitor the Mom and Baby photo looks dark. I do realize it is a silouette but it still looks dark.

Either way I love the photos. I would like to reiterate that I really love the last 2 photos.

    See... that's not even right
did you at least get money for the session? I wonder how much access to a long term online gallery hurts. Need a deadline.

I think you're onto something..the fact that she (and family) can go back day after day and view the pictures is hurting sales.

I started an "early bird" program policy two weeks ago offering 20% off if folks order within the first 72 hours. It worked like a charm!!! the first baby session I received 5 orders in that time period....best sale yet.

For others, I've said 30 days but for the session in this thread, that 30 day mark was a week ago. I work with this person, and have yet to find the right time or words to broach the subject.

The fact that the sessions she did from last October are still live doesn't make my case. I have a hard time turning them off, I just don't want to seem "mean" or greedy, but the timing is becoming frustrating.

(And yes, I did collect a session fee.)

Maybe she just forgot, raising a new baby and all... Maybe this should go in the mind your own business thread, but I just feel like there's something wrong.

Maybe you should increase the session fee and have an online gallery fee note under your session fee, ie: $10 for 3 months online gallery.
This fee includes session time, digital editing, web gallery creation and hosting of proofs for X* weeks, and travel to and from location.

*Additional online gallery time may be purchased for $x per 3 months
    or whatever

Like the official photog from my wife's graduation says this:

    Your Proofs

Step 1 of 4: View Your Proofs

Welcome to! Your proofs are shown below. Please call us at if you need help placing your order.

    Graduate

    Event
    Deadline
After 6/5/2007, a late fee of $5.00 will be charged.

Three weeks they gave. She wants to order one, now she has to pay extra.
