Hi,
here are a couple of shots I took last Sunday night while waiting for a live gig. The railroad is just outside the bar we played. The bottle caps were nailed on the front door. Lot's of'em. Anyway, I tried a new B/W conversion and would like to know what you all think about it.
Cheers.

I like it almost. I wonder if the blown rail in the foreground can be tamed a little bit. I also am curious if your new technique can bring just a smidge more detail out of the shadows along the left side of the rail pic.
I like it on the bottle caps.

The first shot is not quite there....a little too harsh. I like the bottle caps alot, though.
Hi 2H2O, thanks for your suggestions. The blown out rail was on porpouse. I'm just tryin' to get a film like B/W and this one's starting to gettin' me in teh right direction (or at least it looks like that to me). Regarding the details in teh shadow, you're perfectly right. I'm using a mix of color mixer, cross processing and levels in PSP and I think I went too far with the cross processing effect (it tends to close the shadow and burn the highlights quite a bit).
