Not great images, but man are these things small. These are the larger females at about 0.02 inches(about 0.5 mm). The neighbor's mailbox is infested with these.

Hand-held with the MP-65E at 4x.
Enjoy. Comments always welcome.

Great color red, you don't see many red bugs. Nice catch and good job with handheld! thumb.gif

I believe these are known as Velvet Mites.
The measure from 0.5mm - 4mm in sizes.
The adults feed on insect eggs.
They are parasites of of insects, spiders, daddy long legs, and scorpions.
They are mostly found in moist woods, and in deserts.

They are a brilliant red aren't they, I once was given a scorpion that had these attached to each of the joints on its legs.

Good Shot, cause I know how tiny those little parasites are thumb.gif

Dude-that's awesome !(in the vernacular of my eldest son)

We have these all over my work building and one was on my desk just yesterday and I was thinking about shooting it and posting it but the little bugger hid under my note pad too quickly for me to whip out my camera.
