Another white crab spider got the drop on a fly. The first shot is at 1.2x (12mm extension tube) and the second at 1.6x (12 and 25mm tubes together). MR-14EX set to a 4:1 ratio and -1/3 FEC.

I would like to have gone above 2x with this scene but there was just too much wind -barely got the composition that I wanted at 1.6x...

    It's easy to see how the unsuspecting insects get caught by these Crab Spiders, they blend in so well with their surroundings.

    Another behind the head and back of the neck kill I see.

    It's quite amazing how they attack, cool shots thumb.gif ... Skippy

    The petals on that flower stand up like spikes and the spider was holding on to them with its back legs when it caught that fly with its front pair...
