The Red-headed woodpecker is a first for me. I spotted this bird on a tree and it stayed long enough to allow me to get a few shots. The Red-bellied and Downy, instead, are regular visitors.

    Woodpeckers! clap.gif

Ya gotta love a bird that bashes his head continuously and stays upright.:D

    Beautiful set.

I particularly like the Downy which seems to be a tough capture for me.

    I luuuuv woodpeckers...really nice shots.

I've been trying to coax a little red headed dude closer to my shooting position to get a nice clear shot - hasn't happened yet.

The downey's are the most skittesh I've seen so far. The red-headed seem to pause on trees but if anything is nearby, they take off like lightning!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks, Ric. Except for the Red-headed the other birds are very used to me to the point where I can stand a few feet from them without them being bothered.

As I was telling Ric, these birds are used to me and during this time of the year, when they need to get some food for the babies, they get more fearless.

Thanks for your comments. According to the Sibley Field Guide Red-headed WPs are getting uncommon and declining.

Sweeeeeeeet set, Socrate.... the detail is wonderful, but the color and saturation (particularly on the first of each species) is downright outstanding! What beauties!

Thanks, Steve. The red-headed is a pleasure to watch. First time I saw one in real life and I'm glad I had the chance to get some shots. I've been busy lately, and I haven't done much shooting lately.
    Take care
