How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Great portrait. He/She is very stately; not sure about the rock star assessment. :D Great color and detail. That is a red tailed hawk? If so, it is amazing how much they can differe in coloration depending on the region. Our red tailed hawks don't have that much red in the chest. My first guess was that it was a red shouldered hawk.

    Welcome and keep posting!

Individual birds do vary much, but the lighting (lateness, sun, intensity) makes a difference too - and yes this is a red-tailed.
    Here's another red-tailed, less coloured:

Another awesome portrait! To give you an idea of how much they vary, compare this red tailed hawk from my area.

    Red_Tail_Perched_20.jpg

This is the only "morph" that I think I have captured in my area.

The above shot was shot at dawn as I made my way to work.
