The finches have been all over my yard fighting it out with sparrows and swallows and the occasional cowbird. Anyhow, I caught this male finch near the ground.
First, the fence then the he hops to the blade of grass.

It came out a tad soft, but it completes the sequence.

If you look carefully you can see a small seed in its beak.

I am not sure if this is the same one, but on the same day after the sun had come out I found this male finch munching on a catepillar. All, and I repeat, all of my shots of him eating the caterpilar came out soft. :pissed But I was able to get him after his meal. If you look carefully, that little green speck on his beak is part of his dinner.

I wish the angle had been better in the above shot, but it still has some merit. Thanks for looking.
