B&W Conversion Attempt

I have not done many b&w conversions. I pulled a few photos from my files and made some attempts. How could these be improved? Which looks better the color version or the b&w version?

    Great shots I like the color ones better. I have tried to do one conversion man is it hard to get it right. I used the tutorial that Shane made and posted in the techniques forum. http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?p=513723#post513723

    It worked real good and she has some examples linked from there.

    I like the second conversion the best
