Six of us went up to the North Shore area of Minnesota. Swartzy was one of the folks that went up there, so you'll be seeing some of his shots that look similar to some of these.

This is Shovel Point, and probably the one that's going into the challenge.

Split Rock Lighthouse. Just so you know, the sun flare is from using a small aperture. It was not created in Photoshop.

Looks like you guys had a great time! mwink.gif

The first one says more like "surf" than "silhouette".

Second one is much more pronounced (theme-related that it), yet I think it's missing something je ne sais quoi to be a real contender...headscratch.gif

At the moment I prefer the trees but I'd like to see the dark areas of the lighthouse really dark - I think it would give it more impact.

The first one did have much more or a "Cool!" factor for me than the second. It isn't super-strong on theme I agree, but it is present for sure and it definitely has mood. Nice work!

    Thanks Folks for the input.

My entry for right now is this color version of the first shot.
I feel that it screams silhouette.

Well I had one more hair brained scheme, but it really didn't pan out.

I tried to make a kind of barbed wire fence out of light, and create a silhouette that way.
Like I said, this time around, it just didn't work so I'll be leaving the color shot of the north shore in the challenge.
