Birds of the Night
It was high tide, the heron was way over on the other side in the grass. I could see him, but a shot was not going to be interesting.
Harry, I don't know why all your birds are in the grass when there are so many more interesting places they can be. Our tide is 6 0r 7 ft, down near ft lauderdale, I know the tide is not that much of an influence. How is it where you live?
That camera is a dream as far as the shooting is concerned. With the birds and the sunsets, it only jammed once on me. It was probably busy with a raw file.

After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.

The birds here are in the grass because thats where the food is. They don't hang around the shore on the Atlantic side, at least not in my area. On the Gulf side you will see herons and egrets on the shore. I'm guessing thats because the water is calmer on the gulf side.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Pretty light! What kind of camera do you use?
Trish
I did forget that I could raise my ISO as it got darker and I was taking sunsets. But I have always forgotten that. I should have a plug in for my camera that pops up and suggests that I might want to change my ISO. I was shooting at 200 ISO.
When I was in the car and saw the light on those birds, I was ecstatic! Most of what I do well is edit. Pick a subject, shoot it to death and edit the shots. I was trying to get where the sun wasn't behind the birds. I somewhat succeeded. But on the way got those better shots. (I always shoot)
Sure wish I had thought to raise my ISO on the sunset, though there was only one photo type shot that was hurt. I handheld pretty good.

I remember putting it on AV priority f8 (I am getting a new 300 Prime lens from Zippy, but now I still have the notorious 75-300). I am going to get an extender, too.
(Not on the birds, but during the shoot, I did use my "workhorse" the good plastic lens 28-135, I still like that lens, and I had better, don't have anything left to replace it with. Am also getting the 17-40L from Fish. No one knows all this stuff but you and me, and anyone who read all the way down here.)
I love that camera, though, such a difference from the Rebel. Just one little preview thing drives me nuts, but when I say "hop", that camera, it hops!
Did you teach him to do that?

Great poses, and very well exposed...
Very nice shots
As Harry mentioned, the lighting is great. Nice captures and a really good eye
It's also nice to hear that you are enjoying your new camera. It's one sweet machine, isn' it?
Thanks for sharing these,
Steve
