Op Tech neck strap

Just had to say that I got an Op Tech Pro Loop strap the day before my trip to California, and I LOVE it! Maybe my old strap was especially bad, but the new one is soooo great. It's comfortable and seems to distribute the weight very well. I would heartily recommend one to anyone looking for a new strap!

Op Tech is a must-have. I use it on every camera I use.

e.g. I have a Mickey-Mouse Op-Tech bought at Disneyland for my Contax G2. Yes looks kinda silly to some of you but my G2 is supposed to be my non-intimidating camera.

I got one about a year ago after a friend kept raving about his. I love it! I can walk around all day with my 30D & 100-400 L hanging off my neck and just about not feel it. When I have the kit lens on, I sometimes check that I didn't lose the camera :D

I liked it so much, I got one for my camera bag as well.

Are the ones you're talking about the stretch-straps?
Maybe thats the old version? However I disliked them
because they would pull my shirt to any kind of undesired
    direction.

I'm using the (highly underrated) tamrac camera strap
which is made out of thick leather. Its very broad and
comfortable to wear even with heavy cameras. Just
remove those silly pockets on the strap and it will look
good too :> Cost is around 20$

Every canvas bag (laptop, small luggage, etc.) we've bought lately comes with a velcro-sided padded wrap-around thing for their own straps. I just add one of those to the Canon EOS Digital strap that came with the camera, since both are essentially free. The pad is just long enough to sit over the neck and shoulder area where it really matters.

At the each end of the strap, I added a couple of spinning openable couplers, for quick releasing off the camera.

One additional nice thing about the Op/Tech (I have a pro loop as well & love it) is that it doesn't scream "CANON DIGITAL EOS!" translated to "LOOK AT ME!, I HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF EASY-TO-PAWN GEAR AROUND MY NECK!" deal.gif

Good idea, David. I think it would work well with the Op-Tech strap as well. I might watch for wear on camera strap mounts or the couplers themselves because of the metal-to-metal contact. If one metal is significantly harder than the other, the other one may wear and become weakened. Just a thought.

I used it with my D50 + Nikkor 18-70 for a week traveling in China and it, except for a bit of a hassle to initially put on, made for an enjoyable method for fast shooting and hands-free toting when not....

I've had an Optec Camera Strap ever since I got my Canon Gear.
It is very flexible and comfortable, and makes carrying large or even smaller heavy lenses on your camera really comfortable on your neck.

It gives feels like it has some kind of elasticity to it, it gives and takes the weight off your neck thumb.gif .... Skippy

Thanks Elaine! After I read your review, I suddenly realized that a new strap is exactly what I need. I'm putting my order in today. I'll be glad to have something more comfortable with my new heavier lenses.

Just ordered a second one (for my second 30D body).
And, best of all, I came out with a very cool method of using them to remove the weight from the neck completely (if the circumstances are right). No special harness is needed! deal.gif

I bought three of the POTN ones last week... wondering when they were going to arrive. Looking forward to them actually!
