Sweet! I've never had the chance to film a damselfly emerging -I always seem to catch them and dragons slightly after they've come out. Excellent shots Brian!! bowdown.gif

    Thanks John :)
I was very suprised to find this next to my koi pond, although I know damsels lay their eggs in it, I thought the koi would make short work of anything that hatched. I nearly missed it emerging - it must have started whilst I was having lunch.

How long did it take for the Damsel to be able to stretch it's wings out and fly off?

It's quite a remarkable morphing process they go through.
Excellent Captures Brian thumb.gif .... Skippy

Thanks Skippy- was lucky to catch this. I did totally cheat by bringing the damelfly nymph inside so I could keep an eye on it and even then it started the process whilst I was eating lunch :)

I did return the damselfly to the outside after but it still hasn't stretched it's wings fully 24hrs after emerging. It's body has elongated considerably and coloured up.

Okay at first I thought this was bug porn. rolleyes1.gifBut quickly realized it was through "the change" or least shedding its old skin.

Great close up series of something I certainly do not see otherwise! thumb.gif

    Thanks for the comments all,
Obviously it's a damselfly hatching from the old underwater larval stage.
Was quite amazing to watch this :)
