Channel 7 got the mini concert, Koshi and Mel (Channel 7 presenters) got an interview and I got the look from the tiny, mighty queen of contemporary rock - Avril Lavigne.

Well done Ted! I like this one a lot. thumb.gifthumb

Great use of space! Wonderful composition! Expression and eye contact is right there in your face.

    Good stuff!

    Thank you Ziggy.

Avril despite putting out a punch when it comes to singing seems to be very timid. She hardly looked into TV cameras or the hosts so when I got that look it pierced right through me. (and again I only took 1 shot - I have to really get into the habit of keeping the shutter release on)

might also be the stage makeup there producing the piercing gaze.

This is a fantastic shot-- I'd bet it wasn't easy, if there had been a shifting crowd around her, as the people on the fringes suggest.

    Ted - thats super!

I shoot a lot of events and I experience how hard it is to get a gem - its like a merry-go-round - constantly looking and shooting with both eyes. When a jewel comes up, I usually can only see it in post and it can quickly become my favorite.

Thanks everyone. This was a very special moment for me. How often do you get an attention of a major star for a shot like that?

    Very cool pic, Ted!

She looks pretty good in it, and is looking straight at you!
I bet it's a shot lots of PJs were dying to get... and you got it!

    Congrats!

Thank you Thiago and Shay. I will not reveal how I got her attention (it certainly is not my looks, lol) but pressing exposure lock has its uses when you have 580EX on top ;-)
