I haven't seen any of that in Arkansas, or Washington, DC.
Are those skies a coastal thing?

Hi Nairbski, these are wonderful pictures!
It largely depends on air-polution. The more particles there are in the sky, the redder it looks. Below is one shot on the Charles River in downtown Boston.
