Gasoline tanker truck took the turn a tad too fast...the driver sufffered
2nd degree burns but survived. Because it happened so early in the morning,
not many were on the road and no one else was hurt.
The collapse ocurred when the tanker caught fire, heated the steel supporting
the deck and it collapsed. The paper said it was something like 15 minutes
from the time it started burning before it collapsed :eek1
They opened the bit the roadway collapsed on yesterday and a contractor
was hired to replace the bit that fell away--25 days is what they say it will
take

That's not bad. When I saw the photos in the local paper the day it happened it looked much worse; it looked like the whole section was wrecked & I was guessing months of work for both levels. Of course, my luck is I'm up in SF next week--though I don't think I'll need to go through that interchange (crosses fingers).
