Heh.
The second time there's been a fire in the hollywood hills, visible from my office, and I didn't have my camera. First was right by the Hollywood sign. This one by Griffith Observatory (Rebel Without a Cause locale).

It seems we can't get through spring/summer without at least a half-dozen big fires any more. You would think people would learn sooner or later...oh wait, I'm expecting too much again. Well, in a few years there shouldn't be anything left to burn. OK, sarcasim mode off....

And here are the LA Times photographer's images.
The OC Post/OC Register had a really cool photo of the Griffith Observatory lit by fire from behind but I haven't been able to find that image online yet.
I guess that's it, other people's pictures.

There just might be some dgrinners in those reader's photos. I noticed a few familiar names from some mailing lists I'm on.
Here's a dgrinner's photo posted in field and street...
Have you learned your lesson yet?
Is it the one taken last night with the observatory up on the hill with the orange glow surrounding it from behind? www.cnn.com has it

Thanks!
It took a bit of searching as the story is no longer on the CNN home page, however I did find that photo...
Is this one of Sid's?

Yeah, he better check. Then he can start another thread on it: "AP used my photo".

I must say that i find that there are better photographs in the readers section then the photgraphers section. Some of the latter obviously used the highlight shadow feature too much - maybe to alter badly exposed pics...
Strange maybe to say, but some of the reader pics have such nice colors.
The papers better watch out for the D-grinners: we are GOOD!!!!
And getting better all the time
