Can this pass for "Translucent"?

So here I am getting ready to update my site when I come across this photo I had taken over the weekend. To me it looks like it can convey "translucent" but I'm not sure if it gives a strong enough message. Help! :help :scratch

I like the submitted one much better. The new one does show translucency but your eye sort of has to hunt for it if that makes any sense.
