Well i just recently purchased the Canon 85mm f/1.8 and decided to put it to work last weekend. These are two of my friends who recently got engaged and I thought it would be nice to shoot them as a gift. This is my first attempt at doing portrait photography. C&C is always welcome.

I was lucky with a nice difused lighting for some of the pics, while others were taken during when the sun decided to come out in its full glory.
More from that day here.

I think these are a neat set of photos-

I would like to see more 'pop', but then I go too far with something like that, so if that's criticism to consider, I would wait 'til you hear somebody second it-

a couple photos I really liked I'm linking here from your gallery-

if you prefer not, I will delete the post:

your buddy seemed so stiff in almost all the pics-

in these two photos he seems a little more natural-

and I thought it a neat pose to have him riding piggyback-

Nice set of images. I agree w/ George that your friend seemed a little stiff and preoccupied with being photographed and wasn't paying too much attention to his fiance. In spite of the nice lighting, #1 and #3 could benefit from a little fill flash as their eyes are dark and appear somewhat lifeless. A little catch-light would do wonders. Good job over-all.

Thanks for the replies guys... Sorry for not getting back to respond.
Been so busy the past few weeks.

You are definitely right that he is stiff in the shots. I think i look the same way as well whenever i am in front of the camera which is why i like to stay behind it.

The one shot you pointed out with the locks in the background is one of the few where i used fill flash... I personally feel wierd about how much they stand out from the background. To me it feels almost unnatural. I do agree however that adding some pop would be a good thing. I definitely have a lot of work to do regarding using a flash.

I do love however how the DOF plays out with this lens.

    Thanks again for your C&C!
