Dust-Aid Field Test

After today (rather short) shooting I noticed that both my 30Ds are showing a few dust bunnies here and there. It was otherwise a rather lazy weekend so I decided to give my recently purchased Dust-Aid cleaning kit a try.
For those who haven't heard of it, it uses a somewhat sticky foam pad, that supposed to be only sticky enough to pick up the dirt specks, but not sticky enough to leave any residue on the sensor or damage it when pulling it off.
Well, good news first: looks like it does not leave any residue.
The bad news: it doesn't help with the dust much either. :dunno
The sensor I tried it on had a rather clearly visible dust speck in the upper right corner. Blower didn't help, and neither did Dust-Aid. In fact, I got a feeling that every application (I stamped the sensor a few times) simply rearranged the smaller dusticles, picking some and leaving some, sometimes leaving more than picking.
The sensor has been finally cleaned with an old and trusty Eclipse swabs.
I am gonna keep the DA in my backpack just in case I'm in a desert and there is nothing else. But it's not look like it's gonna be my weapon of first choice.
And of course, it's an extra proof of the Russian way of life: one can solve a large variety of problems with just a little bit of alcohol... :lol3

Nik, I've been drinking with you. When's the last time you ever used a little bit of alcohol for anything?
Thanks for the tip, though! I was thinking about picking that up!

Sure thing, David! I wish somebody could tell me about it before I bought it, but nobody I knew had it availalble, and the DA guy ignored my email with the request for sample.
The tin case is pretty cool, though

Too bad though. I was thinking these things showed great promise. Oh well...

Well, if not me, somebody else would post it... I was just geeky enough to get it early. I also thought it's a very cool idea. And I still think that I may use it occasionally, since it's quite possible that it works differently on different kinds of dust. It just happened so that it didn't work quite well on mine
In fact, on some other forum I've read one guy's post who was quite satisfied with it. However, IIRC, we has also totally afraid of any wet methods, which kinda left him helpless otherwise...
