All excellent shots John- wonderful light and composition. Think #3 would have been better with a focus stack :)

I kinda see you're point about the third image, and if the spider had been facing me I definitely would have gone out of my way to get its eyes in sharp focus. But an image like that one really would not improve with more depth. What's conveyed by the shot is more important -and who really needs a clear shot of a spider's back side... mwink.gif

Thanks Skippy! One of those times when I start to think that the critters actually do have a personality. He was watching me shoot a hoverfly and seemed very curious about what I was doing...

    Great series!!
The first image cracked me up rolleyes1.gif
I like the 3rd but think I'm with Brian and would have enjoyed seeing part of the rear of the spider in focus (it would highlight the comedy that the spider is watching the guy under the flower from behind, the guy under the flower is watching the spider from the same vantage point and in the end they may just go round-n-round if one of them made a move)

    Take care,
    - Deanna

Thanks Jill! I like the bokeh I'm getting with the 500D diopter -really cuts through backgrounds that would otherwise ruin a shot.
