Images look good in terms of sharpness, color and action that was captured.
I think they would be better cropped in much tighter. Could you post the focal length for the photos and general distance you were at? I have been considering getting the 1.7 tc for my 70-200vr, so I am interested in how tight you can get in, particularly in field sports. Only other comment on some of the photos is to try and shoot with a wider aperture in order to blur out more of the background. What is the max aperture you can get with the 1.7 tc?
One other question, how was the autofocus with the tc in terms of speed and accuracy?

All shots were taken at f4.8 which is wide open with the 1.7.
1, 4 & 5 were at full zoom, 340mm, 510mm with the camera crop.
These were taken on the smaller 8v8 field from approx. 20 yards up from the goal line.
This was my first time using the 1.7.
Pros
Better field coverage from one position.
Less cropping
Able to get shots at the far end of the field that I would have missed.
(seems I'm always in the wrong spot at the wrong time)
Cons
Bokah doesn't seem as smooth
Action can be to close at times. (might have to start taking my backup with shorter lens.
There seemed to be a very slight fall off in focus speed, but was still very good. I did find that I was zooming in and out much more than without the t/c. Keeper rate was about the same.
I spent a lot of time debating between the 1.4 and the 1.7. For the money spent I think the 1.7 was the way to go.
With a little practice I'm sure I will be very happy with it.
