Sounds like reasonable advise. I did see SmugMug mentioned a few times in there...the last mention being: "I personally could never send a client of mine to anything called Smug Mug, or Yahoo pictures... ya know."
So are you changing the SmugMug name soon then?...
Guess I'll never make a killing selling photos...because I just don't have the interest or drive to go after it hard like that guy suggests. I suppose if I didn't already have a great paying job, I might have a better reason to go after photo sales and try to do more professional (paid) work. But I am happy with my job and it pays me well enough to buy gear for my camera hobby. It would be nice to be able to sell tons of stock photos with low effort...but if all I ever end up with is photos I've made for myself that maybe I can hang on my own walls, I will be happy The day photography becomes a burden and hassle to me is probably the day I'll let my camera collect dust. I enjoy it too much to turn it into a stressful job...just to sell photos for money I don't need. But anyway, I think that guy's advise is pretty much right on. Like anything...job hunting, etc...if you don't work hard at it, you're not likely to be very successful. A few people might stumble into success with little effort involved...but that would be the exception to the rule in my opinion.
Thanks for the link Andy, should be compulsory reading for anyone thinking of, or actually selling on line, it reinforces many points made previously in separate postings and also has some new advice.
I'm suprised at how few view the post has had ?
