Well, I got a new toy thursday, sighted it in @ 100yds saturday before work, the rain slowed us down so i only got to shoot it 7 times so far before had to get back home and get ready for work, but thats all it took!:ivar 5th shot was in the 1" bull so i quit adjusting scope and put 2 more in bullseye. Not bad for cheap factory rounds, cant wait to see what it does after the barrel is fully broken in and my buddy and I develope a load tuned for my rifle.

Notice anything odd about this rifle?

Notice anything odd about this rifle? you ask?
To tell you the truth I do not know a single person who owns a gun.
Guns are not the Norm here in Australia, so I have no idea ne_nau.gif

I think if I saw someone with that I'd be worried eek7.gif .... Skippy

Where does the shell come out? That's what is odd to me.

Yes, I don't see where the shell would come out. That is odd.

Hi Glenn, Welcome to Digital Grin! wave.gif glad you could join us.

See the link in my signature on how to do most anything around here, or just ask us.

I believe the ejection port is on the left side on this rifle.

Correct, ejection port is normaly found on the right, but as ivar mentioned it is on the left side of this rifle. Also available in right port version. Its a single shot, i chose the left port version for shooting off the bench convienience. This is the only rifle I know of that offers left side loading/unloading, but i imagine there is others.

    Thanks Gus,
Bare bones without scope, scope base or rings, $1000 US
    Scope, rings, and base $625
Thats what I paid, the scope I got a pretty good deal online, the rifle retails for $1116, in a bigger city I could of probably got a better deal.

    Douglas-

This is a very nice looking rifle. This is a 223 Caliber? What is its primary use? Are you a hunter or target shooter?

Thanks! Its actually .224 Caliber I bought it for primarily target range shooting, and coyote hunting. It will be great on the bench as it is quite heavy at 13 lbs with scope. Not great for packing around hunting, but i prefer to sit down in the woods and call coyotes in while resting rifle on shooting sticks, so wieght isnt that big of an issue. Ocasionally I will get it out to shooting range @ 600 yds, will be a hoot if i can hit paper plates @ 500-600yds. But most my target shooting will be @ 100 yrds as that is so far the closest place ive found for free. I may join a club thats fairly close that will get me out to 400yds.
    Best regards,

I haven't shot in years!! I grew up around guns- mostly target shooting- and even went to a an olympic shooting camp here in Phoenix when I was about 14. Those rifles are heavy!!

Dad was always mad when I out shot him with his own gun. :D

600 yards-that is far!! Think only time I shot that far was military M60 and .50 caliber. Of course we were shooting at old vehicles and painted concrete bricks- not paper plates. Well we didn't have scopes though either! mwink.gif

I havent done a whole lot of shooting thus far, havent owned a rifle untill this one in over 10 years actually. But this rifle is a good shooter, as far as hitting a paper plate at 600 yards, will have to wait and see but that is my goal anyway, will have to be a calm day as the wind messes with that small a caliber pretty bad at those ranges. At 600 yds bullet is gonna drop about 78 inches, then even a 5 mph crosswind is 22 inch drift, thats gonna be dang hard to hit a 9" paper plate, sounds like a challenge, should be fun.
An olympic camp sounds fun, did you compete, how did you do?

We competed at the camp but I was at a serious disadvantage with never shooting a comp rifle before. At that time I was a dead eye with my single shot 22 rifle, a good clay shooter, as well as pistols. The comp rifle was very heavy and it kicked my butt in the standing unsupported shooting. I was excited when we were going to be able to shoot kneeling and sitting but of course it rained those two days- so those events were cancelled. I don't remember where exactly I placed but it wasn't too bad.

Never got into shooting competively and haven't shot in a while. I have been looking to get a medium caliber handgun though for some protection when I am out in the wilderness hiking and shooting photos. Had a few run ins with rattlesnakes, javelina, and have seen a mountain lion here and there. Knive is not a lot of help with any of those. :D

Thanks UP N MTNS. Acually the rifle is resting on a ergorest mini tripod just to hold it up in the position I wanted for the photo. I havent got a bipod yet, I may very well get one though, probably a Harris prone size if I do. I will be doing my target shooting from bench using sandbags, when im hunting I prefer to find a place to sit while calling and then ill be using shooting stix. But a short bipod would still come in handy at times and is great for setting your rifle down, keeping it out of dirt.

Man that stinks that it rained during your best events. Knives arent alot of help but better than nothing for sure, specially if there already on top of you.
