I have been shooting a fair bit of sports, but this was my first motocross day.

A bit of panning:

Small tracks you can get close:

More panning:

Some less traditional action:

Forgot to add this one - as my wife told the kids, a lot of crazy combined with a lot of talent.

Very well done for a first timer, Peter. I checked out more of them on your site. some of the crops were so tight, it limits what size they could order. some of them seemed cropped to fit 8x10, but wouldn't work in a 4x6,5x7,8x12,12x18. just curious, is that intentional to keep them from ordering small pics?

No intention on limiting what people can order, I just like the crops 8x10 on motocross, seems to fit better especially for the side on shots.

Good suggestion though where I should allow room for folks to order the more popular sizes and crop. Never thought of that.

Have you in the past just cropped looser to allow the byer to crop or provided two versions of each?

I try to do as little cropping as possible, mainly because its too time consuming. for example, I shot 200 pics at last nights baseball game. I had to crop 3 or 4 of the outfield shots, but all of the others(infield and at bat) are posted full-frame(shooting with a 300f4). when I crop, I do it in 4x6 aspect ratio, so they will be the same as the other full frames, and it offers more sizes available to the buyer.

I plan to shoot a MX race this weekend. I'll be using my 80-200(and maybe my 50), instead of the 300. depending on where I shoot from, I might have to do some cropping, but I'll try to keep it to a minimum.

The problem I run into is that cropping to 4X6 makes it harder to get an 8X10 if you want one. It takes more off of the pictures ends that way. Either way you loose part of your picture.

    Peter,

Very very nice work. The pans are excellent too.
Might I suggest a touch more contrast and/or color saturation?
I realize the weather dictates the lighting in most cases but there is room here for little more juice (just my opinion).

    Keep it up mate thumb.gif
