Worked a couple summers in Yellowstone and used to ride my bicycle from the dorm to the hotel (where I worked). There would be times I'd be late and racing down the trail and come around a corner and there'd be a bison standing in the middle of the trail. Well you've seen those yellow bison warning leaflets the park service hands out (the bison goring a camera toting tourist)... so obviously I'd have to jump off my bike and get ready to climb a tree... one time I actually did have to climb a tree. The bison walked over, sniffed around the base of the tree, then just started grazing again. I had to wait half-hour until it moved on before I could climb down.
BTW: little trivia, the park service folks actually have a betting pool every year for the date the first tourist in Yellowstone will get gored by a bison. Yup, it happens EVERY year-- first one is usually around mid-June.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Hey Pete did you work at Mamoth Hot Springs? They make a fine Buf burger in there too.
