Infineon Superbikes and such!
Hellooo race fans,
What an exciting weekend we had last week in Sonoma California... howling winds, an induction into the Infineon “Wall Of Fame” (congratulations to Mat Mladin!), great racing action and the usual humor in the media center including a quick birthday sing-a-long for one of our fellow photographers!
Consider this an effort to be somewhat different than my usual racing posts... here’s a variety pack of how I saw the weekend unfold. Some with bikes; some without!

My fav is definately #5, I find it very difficult to get crest shots, I try to put it down to my lens not being able to focus quick enough for the shot (it is a crappy lens).
Go Mat Mladin....! we don't hear enough about him back in his home country...

Awesome set of photos!
Gus, glad you liked it! I almost didn't include that one here because of the big white tent in the left background...but it's hard not to like those Kawasaki greens!
Crgphotographer, thanks and you're right; those crest shots are tricky. Some guys pre-focus on a spot but that rarely works for me and a blind crest like this means you never know where the rider will pop up over the top as they change their lines quite often. Anticipation (or hunch) and a fast focusing lens is a good mix! As for Mladin; he's everywhere here in the US...especially on the podiums!!
Gary, here are two recent shots of Mr. Chaz.
The first is last week at Infineon and the second is a few weeks ago at California Speedway. By the way, they all race in their own respective classes during the same weekend. The AMA event organizing is done quite well and with the exception of a red flag (crash with debris on track) there is very little time between sessions.
1) Infineon
2) California Speedway
Thanks so much mates for taking a moment to post such positive comments!

I can't wait to get to the track and take some of my own.
I used to dream of all things Nikon, then I got the bill.

Tcsphoto, I use a 400 2.8 (usually with a 2x tele) for about 90% of my work and a 70-200 2.8 or 24-70 2.8 for the extra treats!
