From what I have been told, that's what people from Utah call themselves: Utans. It reminds me of "orangutans." I am not from Utah but for five days 12 of us were incorporated into the dust, the sun, and the gnats. In my opinion it wasn't half bad considering it was going out into the middle of nowhere with a bunch of strangers I met on the internet. ;)

I have the gallery of them here. Frankly, I'm nervous about being the first to walk the Wild Utah Workshop plank...

Enjoy! (I know I did)

Nice gallery Schmoo! I really love seeing the use of people in the shots to give perspective. It's really difficult to visualize size without them. Number 11 in your gallery is a really good example. I would never have been able to guess the person to be that small in comparison. Then there's the opposite.....seeing how small the plants can be, like in #37!!!! Great shots and glad you had such a great time.

Thanks for posting the link to your gallery. This is a trip I really would've liked to have made but couldn't and seeing your images helps me at least experience a bit of what you did. You did well!! clap.gifclap.gif

I'm a sucker for star trails... This is my favorite. ~30 minute exposure? Very nice work overall, and you obviously had a blast. thumb.gif

Wow I am seriously floored by the comments... everyone is making me blush.

Yes it was a 30 minute exposure, and I am disappointed with the amount of digital noise that is in the shot. I tried the in-camera noise reduction for the one of the Temple and I am not really pleased with what it did. I think not having that function on results in a smoother image. But I wasn't really there for the star trails - sitting around with the group laughing and craning our necks for shooting stars and satellites was the hot tip.

Putting people in the shot is Marc's trademark. I used to always be annoyed at people walking through my frame but in landscape photography, now I see the light. Literally and figuratively. I invite people to parade through my panos anytime. :D

Andy - your dirty little (post-processing) secret is the best secret I've ever heard. Thank you!

I'm looking forward to my next Dgrin event, naturally.
