The first of six ant shots -I took over 200 frames and kept 18.
Amazing what you can do with a little sugar water on a tree...
All Canon gear: Xti (manual mode F16, 1/200, ISO 200) + 62mm of extension tubes + 100mm macro lens + 500D diopter. MR-14EX ring flash set to a 4:1 ratio and 0 FEC. Minimal post processing and, like all of my images, no cropping. To kinda put these shots into perspective: At three times life size the frame is only 8mm wide...

Those Ants sure have decent choppers on them don't they
Be careful attracting Ants, they are not that easy to get rid of once they discover the source of food, especially if that tree is close to your house.
The Ring Flash really shows up on their shining bodies.
