So I went to Utah and left my long glass behind, not really expecting to shoot anything but landscapes.

Well, you really never know what is going to happen in the West.

I found this woodpecker in a suburban Denver backyard

I found this little songbird - a Western Kingbird I believe

And there are ravens everywhere out West, but not always this close up...

Mike will be happy to know that I shot the raven with a 70-200mm lens - no long glass for it.

Nice series! I agree with Ric, that last one is the best.

I found several new birds when I was in CO last summer, not to mention a herd of deer! Looks like you enjoyed your trip!

I am glad you liked the raven.

I think it was hungry, as it sat not 6-8 feet from me as I shot with my 70-200. Here's another.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

That raven is awesome and you are correct that one is a Western Kingbird. Great set!
