The second set of six images from Sunday's shoot.
All Canon gear: Xti (manual mode F16, 1/200, ISO 200) + 62mm of extension tubes + 100mm macro lens + 500D diopter. MR-14EX ring flash set to a 4:1 ratio and 0 FEC. Minimal post processing and, like all of my images, no cropping. Shot at F16 because I wanted enough depth of field to show the ant's tounge -you can see it clearly in a couple of these shots. Focus stacking wouldn't work for this subject -way too much movement between frames...
Here's a good shot of the tongue -tough to get the right angle for it...

I think I'll have to build some sort of light box to photograph them it -I've got some ideas on how to make some very diffused light. But I don't know if I'll be able to pump enough light into it to shoot at 3x / F16...
