Shot this photo this past weekend while camping and just had to share. Experimenting with a 580ex triggered by a pocketwizard and used a small softbox as a modifier. I love it-- but I'm biased since I've raised this dog from a wee-pup. He's now seven-- and he's still one of my favorite 'models'!

Nicely done. That dark coat looks like a difficult exposure. I think it would have more impact if you cropped in closer to the dog, taking out some of the very bright bg.

    Great shot, beautiful dog.thumb.gif

I love taking pictures of my pooch... He is a Black Standard Poodle, black dogs are difficult to shot. My dog is 7 also... There should almost be a pet forum... what do you think ?

Thank you for the comments. One trick I've found in shooting black furred critters is to overexpose the flash a bit. Then again, this is one of my fav dog pics and it was shot with a waterproof p&s on auto settings.

Great puppy photos! That is good advice for overexposing - I always dread photographing black animals because I can never get it right.

The second photo reminds me of the hippos I saw at the St. Louis Zoo! rolleyes1.gif
