Hello all - I took a few photos of my son playing outside last night. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately the lack of feet in this last picture is due to bad composition, not due to a bad crop...

Thanks!

What a cute kid. His expression in the first picture is priceless.

I like the "crop" in the third one, even though it is unintentional. If his feet were in the photo, he would be farther away and I love to see the faces of the little ones. Also, as it is, you get a real sense that he is heading your way - fast!

Yah - tell me about it :-) That's probably why I missed his feet!

I just love the first one! Its adorable. What a great head of hair he has!

RE: crop, I've always read to crop away from the joints (say, mid thigh instead of at the knee). If you did an even tighter crop on this one, it may look more "on purpose."

I prefer the fill flash you did on the 3rd over the natural light in the first two, if only for the eye light. (I am very guilty of this and am trying to reform myself!) :)

Hope this helps and just loved seeing these shots!

Thanks for the reply, Lynne. The third actually didn't have any flash at all. I guess I just got lucky with some naturally-reflected sunlight...you bring up a good point, though. I may try to add some eye catchlights in that pic.

But about cropping, why you cut off arms and palms ?

Cropping in camera with kids is really difficult.....they are constantly moving!!! He is a really cute kid, just keep practicing. :D
