Hi

I'm planing to buy a new camera and the chosen one is a Nikon D70. There is shop offering different combinations of lenses as a package and I don't know which ones are better and for what. So I'm looking to some info or comparison between these lenses
In general the price of the D70 + one of this lenses is not that different

Nikon 18-70mm AF-S G DX IF-ED
Nikon 70-300mm AF G
Nikon 24-120/3,5-5,6 AF-S VR G Nikkor
Nikon 28-80/3,3-5,6 AF G

Thanks
Carlos

As a starter lens out of that group I would go with the 24-120. Its a very flexible lens with a range that covers most of your normal shooting needs, The VR works wonders with that lens. It is also a very good "walk around" lens.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

All are good choices and there is no argument that Nikon lenses are great. Your choices cover a wide range. You might want to consider Tamron's 28-300 (http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/28300_di.asp) or the 28-200 (http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/a03.asp). They are small in stature but large in performance. I have the 28-300 and the 17-35 and find that they are the workhorses, particularly when I am travelling.

    Good luck with your decision.
I used to have the Tamron 28-300 and for the price (around $300) it couldn't be beat. In good light its a very fllexible lens. Its soft beyond 200mm but its another great walk around lens.

    How to compare length
Hi and thanks for the comments

I think I'd get either the 18-70 or the 24-120. The price difference is app 150€ being the 24-120 more expensive

I'm not sure if completely understand how to compare them well but the 18-70 is equivalent to 27-105 while the other is 24-120. So the 24-120 will have better wide and longer zoom. Am I right?

The other good point of the 24-120 is being a VR lens. I tend to get blurred photos often so that should be a big plus

    Regards

Here's a pic from my 24-120. It was handheld at 1/15 sec

    How wide
    Hi

That looks very impresive. I only wonder now how wide can you get. Do ou have any samples of some landscape taken at the widest range?

No, you should convert the 24-120 to the 35mm equivalent as well to compare these. This means you'd have to multiply with 1.5 for a Nikon DSLR, which would make the 24-120 comparable with a 36-180 in a 35mm camera. So the 24-120 will have less wide, but longer zoom.
enjoy being here while getting there
