Some racers jog in the morning, Danny Eslick goes for a brisk unicycle ride instead (I saw this every mornng when I got up and stepped out of the trailer in the pits)

    Hello!
First post from me on this board. I just wanted to comment on your images. Although I don't shoot sports or racing in this case at all and have no clue about the techniques besides panning I'd lide to comment a couple of the shots.

Firstly I really like the shot of mr. 88. The composition shows a strong use of diagonals and good use of the rule of thirds. The special point of view makes this image stand out from the rest of the "man on bike" shots in this post imo!

Regarding the shot with the bike in the foreground and the two guys sitting. I like what you're trying to do here with the out of focus parts. However I would have like an even larger aperture so the disturbing background ceiling would have been blurred more if possible. Another compositional idea was to somehow have angled the shot so that the diagonal line of the top and bottom to the right hand side of the bike would have been emphasized even more maybe by taking a couple of steps to the left.

The Jake holden shot is really nice. One thing that bothers me a bit about is that the basketball sillouhette is smack on one of the vertical thirds line and thus makes it very dominant. I am not sure if there is anything relating Holden to basketball (I have no clue about sport starts), but if not I'd maybe if allowed cloned the sillouette out. Apart from that the portrait is good with the head and helmet each in a hotspot.

The last one I want to comment is the darren murrey one. It really is great. My only suggestion would have been to have him about 1cm more to the right in the frame to plot him even better into the thirds.

Apart from that I really like the vibrance and clarity of your shots in general. Which lense choice and post processing do you use?

    thanks!

The last one's good, but the other ones dont do anything for me.

    Not bad work there Brandon...

I'd say the Cory West looks a wee bit soft (not that I think that's a bad thing) but just how I see it. The AMy shot isn't bad either but it looks like the highlights are a little blown there. With some judicial work you could recover that!

    Love the Eslick shot though..

Oh, and it's the Isle of *Man* (not Mann).... ;)

It was also nice seeing you.

    Very cool shots.
YOu did an excellent job with these.
Like the low angle on the action shots. Lots of energy in the racing shots.
The pit shots were very well done as well.

thanks Andrew, the shot of Amy was tough, it was done on in the hot pits and she did that rather unexpected. Trying to get her to come out to Millers with us though.

Still have a lot to learn, AMA is much different then local racing, but I like it more.

Thanks to everyone that commented. One man's trash is another's treasure so no offense taken if you didn't like them

    Hey Brandon,

Good job with all of these shots but Ben and Luca's wheelies are beautiful clap.gif

I love the controlled power they're both demonstrating. Plus, the image quality and sharpness is spot on!

    See ya @ Miller thumb.gif
