Shot of my 5yo with her "ballete face" just before heading out to the auditorium.

Is it too dark, contrasty etc.... Maybe B&W would be better as there's some noise in the shadows?

Thanks

For the stage I would assume. My 6 year old daughter's ballet recital is tomorrow night (no photography allowed rolleyes1.gif ) but tonight is the dress rehersal (make-up and all) so I will be snapping away. :D

Nice shot Gene- I prefer the color version. The shadow / backlight looks more natural with her positioned in front of a window as she is. Nice work at capturing the moment.
    Thanks!

    Hi Gene,

I don't think it's too dark or noisy, I think the soft tones from the natural light in this shot are perfect.

    Nice work.

    Hi Gene!

I think she's lovely, and your picture of her is really sweet too!

Background rendering and sharpness are pretty cool, you must have used a nice lens on this one! mwink.gif

I'm partial to the color shot because of the higher contrast, and perhaps the picture could stand some curves or perhaps even some mild Local Contrast Enhancement (also called HIRALOAM). A contrastier B&W conversion would be a winner too, in my book!

Hope you like my small PP suggestions!

    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Take care!

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

Yes that is lipstick- required for the dress rehearsal.:D

Equipment used: 30D, 24-105L at 68mm F4 ISO 1000 1/60. It's about a stop underexposed. Im not exactly exstatic about the 30d's evaluative or CW metering:bluduh

So now I tend to use manual when I have a little extra time- another great reason for having a constant aperture zoomiloveyou.gif
