This is my first post other than the "Show us your mug" thread and as I mentioned there I am fairly new at the whole photography thing and I am looking for as much honesty and criticism I can get. This is a picture of my nephew Logan on Easter. Let me have it. :D

I think you're starting in the right direction. You have him by a window, now just get him to face it. Watch where your light is coming from. In this picture it is coming from behind him so his face is in shadows. It is also a bit underexposed. Kids can be hard to shoot because they hardly stop and when they do they are facing the wrong direction :D. Keep playing with it and you'll get it in no time at all.

    Hi there!

    Nick is way right!

I'm a big fan of natural light, especially window light. And I think it works pretty well for the little ones! thumb.gif

Logan's really cute in that pic, and that's probably what you wanted so that was great! He's also a bit dark (underexposed) and that just might not have been what you had in mind. That's where Nick's advice comes great: just have your camera around, and eventually you'll catch him in good light (while he's both still and facing the window light). This way you'll get nice detail in his face and probably brightly lit, gorgeous eyes!

    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Take care!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the suggestions, I will definitely lighten it up a bit. I wish I could have gotten him facing the window, but as you all have mentioned kids don't like to stay still for too long and I just happened to be sitting in the floor when he decided to lay down for a sec.

I just remembered this post b/c Logan's Dad (my brother-in-law) started posting here recently. So here is my sorry attempt at post processing. ne_nau.gif
