Shot another model today. It was pretty hot out and the sun was really bright so it made it somewhat difficult to not over expose the sky but still get a good exposure on the model. That and not having the model squint because of the bring sun. Never the less I think the shoot went well. Here are two photos from it. Criticism welcome.

    What a cutie!
I'd like to see #1 cropped tighter, somehow cutting out the VW Bug in the background.

I won't sell out even if the whole world think's I'm crazy.

Isaac the first photo has some mind bending qualities to it: the curves and continuous vertical shift is quite uneasy and yet puzzling at the same time. If I was you I'd crop it tight under her leg and the right edge of the photo would touch the fence (cut the blue buggy and everything rigth of it out).

I have to agree with the previous two posters, I love the first shot, but the blue car is a bit of a distraction. It draws to much attention away from Chelle's face.
I absolulely love the location though, great fence link thing thumb.gif

I love the expression in teh second shot as well. Her right shoulder seems to be quite a bit higher than her left shoulder, it looks a little weird maybe.

Ted definitely hit the right words regarding the first one: mind-bending, or eye-bending, I dunno.

The tight crop is a fine suggestion, as you might see the blue VW as disturbing. But I think the framing's pretty good, I like the placement of that arc in the background, for instance, and it would be kinda lost if you cropped tighter. So I dunno... I'm just suggesting stuff because the more suggestions, the better for you to find something that suits you!

Second photo is just as well executed, you have the blue background to give you some neat color contrast against her skin tone. Nice exposure, sharpness and framing on that one.

I would also like to point out that your model has that 'girl next door' (for a cliche yet so appropriate phrase), which is very nice... cute, as mentioned! thumb.gif

    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Take care!

thanks for all the critiquing. The general consensus is that the VW bug needs to go. I think I'll just do some cloning action to take it out plus some cropping. I'll post the new version when I finish it.

Thanks again for taking time to comment on my photos. This forum is invaluable for learning.

So I've cropped the first photo two ways. My vote right now is for the second cropping because it follow the rule of thirds better but let me know what you think. It definitely looks much better without the clutter on the right though.

I also touched up the second photo by dodging her eyes to give them more light.
