Jaggy Text?

Hi everyone.
I've just made a header for my page http://cathiet.smugmug.com - but I've noticed that the edges of the text are really jagged.
I saved as a gif with a transparent background, and all that worked really well. What are the best dither settings (or not) or am I missing something to keep the bevelled text looking raised but smooth around the edges??
