Hi you'll,

Today's bird is the Osprey. Its a fish hunter amd it has a body length of 21-24 inches and a wing span of 54-72 inches.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

I shot this guy in the same dead tree that the local bald eagle perches on. I'm really beginning to like this tree

The osprey eats mainly fish and will dive into the water from 30-100 feet to catch its prey

I even manager to catch a halfway decent flight shot. All of these were shot with my 80-400 VR lens and are heavily cropped.

I love ospreys. I see them, have seen them, flying with a fish. They turn the fish just right to fly.

I have one photo, somewhere, of one flying. Took it last year right after I got my camera. Took it with the 75-300 lens, I thought it was a great photo, heavily cropped, too. I thought it was going to be the only bird photo I would ever take. I didn't realize how relaxing it is to just sit and wait for a bird to show up.

Those were great photos, Harry, and a great lesson, too. Also liked your infrared, isn't it, wetlands photo.

I think the leg was fine. The osprey had no problems moving or flying. Thanks for the kind words.

Its always a thrill to see and capture (in a photograph) an osprey. I agree with you that there is a relaxing effect to stalk those birds. Glad you enjoyed the pics. As always its a pleasure hearing from you.
