Waiting to turn into butterfly...
and eating a bit too.
Let's hope these hungry baby mockingbirds do not find the caterpillar or should I say momma does not find the caterpillar.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Thanks Harry. The caterpillar shots are some new pics that I took with my recently purchased 580 EX II Speedlite flash. I am just learning how to use it. Pair it with a beamer and I am amazed that I can overexpose something from quite a distance. (I didn't use the beamer with the caterpillar shots.)

Let's hope it comes back and smiles when it's a butterfly.

Actually, you got me thinking and from looking around the Net, I think this is actually a moth larva.

Either way it would've served a useful purpose
#3 is the one
I really like the third pic. Do you have the EXIF information for the pics??
For all shots these are the settings
Digital Rebel XT
Flash fired 580 EX II
Shutter speed 1/160
Exposure program: Aperture priority
F-stop 5.6
ISO 200
Focal Length 54mm (just the kit lens)
Metering mode - Photoshop says pattern. I honestly can't remember the setting I had it on. I usually use what Canan calls Evaluative.
