Portrait of a classmate

For our vacation, the DW and I went to the John C. Campbell Folk School (home page link) for a week away from newspapers, telephones, internet, and most other things modern. There were NO locks on the doors! Anyway, I took a short photography course and the following is one of the shots I took:

This 64 year young lady was a very energetic classmate. I loved learning with and from her during the week-long course.

P.S. - C&C welcomed and encouraged. Thanks for looking.

Love this one, scott. Very natural, lovely conversion (just dark enough for some mood, but preserves detail) and as Susan said, awesome light!

thanks for sharing! good thing you brought the pelican. rolleyes1.gif

Love your use of light, here! Very dramatic, yet the pose is quiet. I like it a lot! clap.gif

64? I don't believe it! Either you have some amazing skills (which I already know you do!) or she looks phenomenal.... (I suspect both.)

Gorgeous shot. I LOVE that lighting!

Thank you all for looking and leaving very nice comments.

The light was awesome and I really enjoyed shooting this portrait - it was something of a stretch for me.

And, believe it or not, this is pretty much a direct conversion straight out of the camera. A little curves, a little shapening, but no age reduction technology applied. This lady and her husband make a major effort to stay active and fit and it really shows!

    Don't mind questions.

This was shot was made at about 3:20PM in a very, very, very dark old cabin with the subject (Doris) sitting approximately 3' (1m) from an east facing open window (no light modifiers were used).
