Took my son down to Tucson for a few days. It was hot and lighting sucked for photos but he had fun anyways. :D

The Biosphere 2 is located 20 minutes NE of Tucson Arizona in a small town named Oracle. The Biosphere was created by Columbia University and was used to perform many scientific tests on plant life in a controlled atmosphere. It was and is the only building on earth that can 'control' all aspects of its enviroment- including the air mixture.

In this one room there was a Rainforest, African Savannah, Mangrove Forest, High Desert, and the water to the right is an Ocean. All under one roof and you can feel the temp. change as you walk through the different areas.
In the back rt of this picture you can see a clear wall- behind it is a much thicker rainforest but is not part of the tour because the CO2 level is twice the normal air mixture. According to the guide the plants love the higher CO2 levels growing much faster and producing more oxygen.

The power went out during our tour so it was cut short but I received free passes to go again.
