Those rascals can defy us the shot sometimes... you did great for a first try. Try a smaller aperture as you might get more of the butterfly in focus.
[watch for blur thought as it will slow down shutterspeed]. Monopods are nice for chasing butterflies. Gives you stability and you can slant easily, and get more tries at it. Keep at it!
