i think 'orange' is significant here...

not only did this make me chuckle, it made me wonder if these orange/black beetles somehow need the orange fungus for their life cycle?!

    Were they eating it? or hidding under it?

    Yeah they do. I had actually taken a photo of the fungus before I realized they were there. I'm guessing they were hiding - must have felt the need for some privacy!
