Wrong forum, maybe?

I understand that I am very inexperienced compared to most people in this forum, but I seem to have a nack for getting no responses at all to my posts. I am beginning to wonder if my stuff is boring or just soo bad that people feel that is beyond constructive criticism.

I usuallly gravitate to Field and Street because it is subject matter I like, but I am curious as to whether or not there is a better place for the 'noobies'.

Don't be thin skinned - some threads get missed, other get lots of views by lurkers only, others get commented on. If you look closely you'll see lots of "orphan" threads, that doesn't mean that the image was terrible.

Nobody I know on Dgrin judges photographers and decides whether or not to post a comment that way. You are no more a noob than hundereds of others. I think your stuff is pretty good actually, but I haven't had time to comment.

I'm no noob here, but I often get few replies to images I post; no big deal. If I really want C&C on it, then I bump it until someone sees it.

Best advice is to post what you want to share and don't worry about it. You are shooting and making images that make you happy. That's good enough, and anything more is gravy.

It takes a little while to build a reputation... the best way I've found to get comments is to give them myself.

Tough exposure here, looks like your losing some of the highlights. If it's RAW, combine a couple of exposure to recover some. I'd like to see the men in a bit more context, though.

Keep shooting and posting! Maybe try showing a few shots from the same location or event.

Thanks guys. It really isn't about being thin or thick skinned, but more about knowing when I am going in the right direction.

The problem withe the church is that it was 1:30 pm and brutually bright out. I found an angle that wasn't in direct sunlight. That picture was also my first attempt and doing a 'selective focus' in the post. Here is the original.

I think you were on the right track with the pp, it looks much better (to me) with the shallower DOF, even if it is simulated DOF!

Welcome to dGrin and thanks for sharing your work with us.

I took a quick look at three of your posts, "truth in advertising", the church and the sunset; in each you post your photo along with a brief statement about the shot but you did not ask for input.

You may assume the point of posting is to garner feedback but please understand most folk won't offer feedback if they have the sense that what you've posted is, in your mind, your best work therefore not open to critique.

Try posting with a statement about how and why you were drawn to the shot along with a specific question aimed at helping you improve on a technique.

No shortage of helpful, knowledgeable people here willing to help if they understand their comments are welcome. Moderators will keep an eye on orphan threads that go unanswered. Good luck.
