Most people probably dread having their sidewalks and driveways ripped up in their neighborhood. But with a two-year-old boy, it's like heaven.

Mom and Gareth and Backhoe:

You must be this tall to fit in this wheel:

Look who's driving (with the blessing of the construction crew):

Gotta get to work now:

Thanks cuties, Dale, and Marina! The wheel one is definitely being printed, and of my favorite "environmental portraits" I've taken of him.

The construction guys were really nice letting us climb on and play around. And the fun never stops since they at least have a week to go... "Go outside see bulldozer again!!!" every day... :D

How fun! My 5 yr old boy got to climb on a smaller backhoe at a friend's house last night. Probably would have stayed on it 'till dark if we'd let him. Great boy fun! The tire shot is fantastic!

These are all SO adorable! I like the one of him in the wheel, of course, but I also love the one of him AT the wheel, with the construction hat on. So cute.

Thanks Elaine and Lynne. The one with the hat on is one of my wife's favorites, too. I found it hard to find a balance between small boy and big backhoe. He just disappears if you zoom out to far, but you lose all sense of "big machine" if you zoom in. I guess that's why the wheel is so nice.

I'm not sure what we're going to do when the work is finished, he'll be so upset to wake up and not see his favorite machines!

These are utterly adorable! I would frame #2,3 and 5 (with 2 in the middle) as a triptych. Great shots!!! #2 is my favorite.
